Privacy Policy

This page explains what Recipe Genie collects, why, and how you're in control of it. We built the app around one rule: your recipes and account data are yours, scoped to you alone, and never sold.

01 Information we collect

We collect only what the app needs to function. That's:

Account info The email address and password you sign up with, or your Google account email if you use "Continue with Google."

Profile info The display name you choose, and a profile photo if you upload one.

Recipe content Recipes you save, whether pasted in as a link (we fetch and process that page/video, see §3) or typed in yourself, along with any collections you organize them into.

Meal schedule Dates, times, and reminder preferences for meals you schedule, plus optional notes you add.

Usage-necessary technical data Things like device notification and calendar identifiers, kept only so a reminder or calendar event you created can later be updated or cancelled.

We do not collect location data, contacts, browsing history outside the app, or advertising identifiers, and Recipe Genie contains no ad network or analytics tracker.

02 How we use it

In short: to run the app you're using, and nothing beyond that.

Authenticate you and keep your data scoped only to your own account.

Extract recipes from a link you paste — the page or video's text is analyzed to pull out ingredients, steps, and timing.

Generate suggestions you explicitly ask for — a lighter version of a recipe, or a 7-day meal plan built from what you've saved.

Send reminders at the cooking-start time you set, and add the matching event to your device calendar if you choose to schedule a meal.

03 Who else sees it

We use two service providers to run Recipe Genie. Neither is permitted to use your data for their own purposes, and neither receives more than the specific request needs.

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with data brokers or advertisers.

04 Device permissions

Recipe Genie asks for a few device permissions, each tied to a feature you choose to use:

Notifications To send you the "start cooking" reminder for a meal you've scheduled.

Calendar To add a cooking-to-eating event when you schedule a meal, and remove it if you cancel.

Photo library Only if you choose to set a profile picture.

None of these are required to use the core app — you can save, browse, and cook from recipes without granting any of them.

05 Storage & retention

Your data is stored in our Supabase project's database and file storage, protected by row-level security so that only your own account can read or write it. We retain it for as long as your account exists. Notification and calendar entries created on your device stay there until the corresponding scheduled meal is completed or cancelled.

06 Deleting your data

You can delete individual recipes, collections, and scheduled meals directly in the app at any time — this removes them immediately, along with any related reminder or calendar entry.

Deleting your whole account Email us from the address on your account and we'll erase your account and all associated data within 30 days.

07 Children's privacy

Recipe Genie isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

08 Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in-app.
